Giraffe Centre in Nairobi, Kenya | Premium Africa Safaris

The Giraffe Centre in Nairobi is amazingly an exceptional wildlife conservation spot. It was created purposely to protect the vulnerable Rothschild giraffes.

It was started by Jock Leslie Melville, the Kenyan grandson of a Scottish Earl. Jock and his wife (Betty) captured 2 baby giraffes to commence a giraffe breeding programme on their present Giraffe Manor/Centre.

Since the launch of the breeding programme, huge success has been recorded with several breeding pairs of giraffes already introduced into the National Parks in Kenya.

In 1983, adequate funds was raised to establish the Giraffe Visitor Centre which today serves among the iconic destinations outside the beautiful Nairobi city.

Today, the Giraffe Centre attracts not only school children but also international tourists. Besides giraffes, the centre also holds warthogs.
