At the start of July 2026, new conservation prices or rates are expected to take effect. But for the revised gorilla habituation prices in Uganda, they take effect by January 1, 2027.

The gorilla habituation permits/fees exclude all personal expenses, cigarettes, alcoholic drinks, accommodation costs, transport expenses, visas, passports, telephone expenses, camera purchase or hire, any additional activity other than gorilla habituation, and tips, etc.

What is Gorilla Habituation Experience?

The gorilla habituation experience in Uganda is typically a rare primate activity and involves visiting the semi-habituated gorillas. It provides 4 hours for a face to face encounter with gorilla groups compared to one hour during the regular African gorilla trekking experience.

Obtaining a valid gorilla habituation permit allows you to embark on the search for gorilla families in your group of 4pax per day.

Due to the high demand, booking a permit and the entire experience should be done at least 3 to 6 months in advance, or even a year in advance.
